Parks & Recreation

There are lots of ways to get outside, since Pontotoc County is just a stone's throw away from several trails and state parks! Located just off the 44-mile Tanglefoot Trail, there are tons of different options for exploring, whether you're looking for a long biking trail or a smooth path for a casual walk.

Trace State Park — once the home of pioneer Davy Crockett — offers two 18-hole disc golf courses, camping sites, fishing, access to water sports, and much more!

Public Schools

Pontotoc County is home to a public school system that is dedicated to helping its students succeed. With a student-to-teacher ratio that encourages feedback, access to funding for federal programs, and up-to-date social media feeds, the school district makes itself accessible for all students and parents.

The county also houses an extension for Mississippi State University and is within driving distance to both MSU and the University of Mississippi. Satellite campuses of several schools, such as Itawamba Community College, Northwest Mississippi Community College, and Northeast Mississippi Community College are located close by in neighboring counties.
