There are so many fantastic ways to get outside in Union County! Take a stroll or a bike ride along the 44-mile Tanglefoot Trail, Mississippi’s longest Rails to Trails pathway, which spans from New Albany to Houston. Explore the scenery along the Tallahatchie River at the Park Along the River. See wolves up close and in person at the Wolf Howl Animal Preserve. Or spend an afternoon out on the New Albany Disc Golf Course.

There’s always fun to be had in Union County, from Historic Downtown New Albany to the beautiful Ingomar Indian Mounds. Step back through time at the Union County Heritage Museum. Get active at the BNA Sportsplex in New Albany. Celebrate nature at the Tallahatchie Riverfest or the best things about Union County at the Union County Fair and Livestock Show. Sign up for a baseball league or catch a local team in action as part of the Cotton State League Baseball. And don’t forget about fresh local produce and homecrafted goods at the Biscuits & Jam Farmers Market!

Public Schools

Public school students in Union County belong to one of two districts—Union County School District or New Albany School District. Both districts have seen lots of recent updates to their curriculum, programming, and their facilities. Additionally, both districts perform very well on standardized state testing, and New Albany School District ranks among the best in the state!

Union County is also home to a satellite campus of Northeast Mississippi Community College, as well as a few private and alternative schools.

Central Location

Union County is centrally located between Tupelo and Memphis, along the intersections of I-22, Route 15, and Route 30. County seat New Albany is about 75 miles from Memphis and only 20 miles from Tupelo.
